We have been married for 15 years and still like each other! When we got together, we couldn’t have been more opposite: Megan’s the realist, Shane is the dreamer; Megan’s the planner, Shane’s the spontaneous one; Megan is hygienic, Shane is less so. But over the years, we have grown and learned a lot from each other, and we still have a whole lot of fun together. We love to play cards and board games, be outside with our kids, go for walks, and watch Chiefs Super Bowl replays on Youtube (well, maybe not the last one…).
We have five kids: Cayleigh (13), Ryan (11), Noah (8), Nathan (5), and Joey (2). They bring so much joy, laughter, chaos, and laundry into our lives, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Where were you and your spouse born? (City/State):
Shane – St. Louis Missouri; Megan, Kansas City, Kansas. So that means…
Shane – Fan of Mizzou and the St. Louis Cardinals; Megan – Fan of KU and the Kansas City Royals. But we all can agree we love Patrick Mahomes…
We were both born and raised Catholic and are extraordinarily grateful and blessed to have witnessed our parents’ marriages, which have totaled a collective 89 years of love and sacrifice.
How did you meet? We met through mutual friends at Benedictine College. Shane introduced himself to Megan at a Halloween house party in Atchison while dressed as Harry Potter. It didn’t go well. Somehow, despite Shane’s dashing looks and rugged charm, we remained just friends until senior year, when we finally started dating.

Occupations: We are both in education: Shane has worked at St. James Academy for 17 years, the last nine as principal, and Megan has been a teacher and leader in schools for 16 years, the last eight of which have been at St. Paul where she currently serves as Director of Student Services.
What are your favorite leisure activities/ hobbies?
Shane: Reading, writing, being outdoors, and taking youth recreational soccer too seriously.
Megan: Reading, cooking, walking, and playing piano!
How long have you been parishioners at St. Paul? What do you enjoy most about this parish, and what improvements would you like to see?
We have been St. Paul parishioners for almost 15 years. We love the people at St. Paul; we have made many good and lasting friendships and have had our faith and personal lives enriched by them. We have loved being able to grow our family right alongside the growth of the parish and the school! It has been a blessing to us to be involved in the mission of the parish in a variety of meaningful ways over the years, from teaching Baptism Class to hosting men’s Bible studies to participating in marriage ministry. We hope that in the future the partnership between the parish and school can deepen, as well as continued opportunities to connect the various populations in the parish. We would also love to see every opportunity possible seized for dynamic, impactful evangelization and invitation into active discipleship and parish membership.
Are you currently involved in any ministry at St. Paul?
Shane: Hosts a biweekly “Underground” Men’s Group. CYO Sports.
Megan: Various volunteer roles at the school. CYO Sports.

Treat your marriage (and parenting) like all the other important things in life: study for it, train for it, reflect on it, and find people who can coach you in it.

We have also loved memorizing some Scripture with our kids, in particular Psalms 1 and 23 and the Beatitudes.
